The Time is Now & the Place is Re:YOU

5 exercises to captivate your Athletic Tune in preparation for

Do what you love forever!

Beyond exercise, at Re:YOU, you will find your Athletic Tune.

The movement education in this technical flow allows us to analyze 10 functional movement phrases and how to incorporate Pilates principles so that you know the best modification or progressions for you to build SKILL and challenge TECHNIQUE. Here is the why, how and what surrounding our event in March.

We are delighted to announce Re:YOU, at Our Habitas, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico! Re:You emerges as the brainchild of the collaboration between our two brands who are pioneers in their respective fields, aiming to revolutionize and personalize wellness retreats.

The first of its kind, a 4 day intensive collaboration WITH you is designed and led by Dr Rudy Gehrman, who is my husband, Michelle Miller, who is my friend, and myself. We have been colleagues for well over a decade and collectively hold 50+ years of experience.  We have been watching the success of our patients and clients who experience our multi faceted approach using physical therapy & chiropractic care, functional medicine & nutrition, and Pilates. Those who we work with come to us with a vast spectrum of backgrounds: the professional athlete, injury prevention & recovery, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, receptive stress injuries, pre and post pregnancy, overall wellness, optimization, and longevity goals…. While these applications may seem so different, the baseline of information needed by everyone is similar. Understanding homeostatic principles and how they apply to your bones, joints, muscles, and blood labs, this balance in nature is how we guide and steer our efforts and yours.

We dreamt of a “retreat” that allows us to deliver overarching information as a group while still being able to help you understand and decode your unique biological design and the simplicity of how to apply health & movement education in a sustainable way to your daily life. We will achieve this by doing extensive pre-intake with each guest BEFORE the event. A meeting with Michelle where you will discuss goals and submit relevant lab testing for her to analyze, a medical intake and functional movement screening with Dr Rudy, and a lesson with me where we review movement specific goals, strengths and weaknesses. Think of this like a 4 day camp with us but in the most beautiful place with delicious food!

How The Three of As Came to Work Together:

Dr Gehrman opened his practice over 20 years ago, and was in the role of chiropractor, PT, and nutritionist. He aspired to direct a multi disciplinary practice with a team approach and the ability to route patients to best suit their needs. My Pilates studio was the first modality he began referring to when I opened 4 years later. He confidently referred his patients to me when he saw that someone needed corrective exercise, muscular reeducation, or an effective workout to complement their daily life. Pilates as a method is both a set of principles and exercises. The way to truly soak up the benefits of Pilates is to combine these principles with the movement and focus on how you are doing the exercises. It is great for the Pilates instructors because if someone is injured or dealing with a body part that just doesn’t feel right, we have a trusted source to diagnose and fix our students up.

However, even as this dynamic duo, we often found that movement and manual therapies were just not enough to get people back to 100%. There was often an issue with inflammatory markers and healing rates among other things evident in blood and stool analysis that was holding people back from optimizing their efforts, Michelle was instrumental in building a functional medicine and functional nutrition department. She has been such a gift to our collaborating practices. I personally see both of them and their departments as a patient which has been profound in my career as a teacher and a dancer. I am always honored to work alongside them!

More About The Movement Side of Re:YOU

I am extremely technical, disciplined and good humored, all of this equals freedom in our bodies. I teach ideal alignment in your body before building layers of movement. There is always a modification or a progression for a movement even when contraindicated. I instill a sense of responsibility and power within my students to choose how they want to move, changing or reiterating reflex patterns in the body to achieve the goal. In 2 modules with daily Athletic Tune classes, talks and access to my virtual studio we will learn:

  • Core mobility techniques in the daily “Athletic Tune” class that will progress in difficulty each day
  • 10 functional movement patterns such as squat, jump, balance, lunge, plank, reach and fundamental Pilates Matwork including hip and shoulder focus.
  • How to execute and apply different types of movement quality and differing types of muscle contractions in order to achieve set outcomes.
  • The 10 theoretic Principles of Pilates.
  • Your personal Homeostatic/neutral alignment and how it applies to dynamic stability and self- correction in motion, ie, “posturing”
  • Progressions of the signature “Athletic Tune” technical flow that work for your body as a workout, a warmup, or a cool down.
  • How to find personal neutral alignment and apply it to stability and movement in all functional movement and athletic endeavors
  • How to do what you love forever!
Description of Find Your Athletic Tune: Technical Flow

Lynda’s signature class is a curated blend of the key strengthening points that lie within Ballet, Horton Technique, Functional Training, topped off with BASI Pilates Mat-work. Highlighting the principles of harmony efficiency and precision, and utilizing the block system in its entirety, this paced workout strategically moves through 3 levels in space. You are guided to ignite the power within yourself to choose how you want to move, your appropriate progressions, and when to change or reiterate reflex patterns in the body to achieve longevity.

  1. Standing Progressions: Alignment Focus
    • After the spine and breath awaken, learn accessible progressions of the flat back series, side bends, pliés, squats, lunge variations, balance sequences, and jumping.
  2. Plank Flow: Energetic Connections
    • Make your way to the mat in the strongest way. Connect all 4 extremities into the ground and discover strength you didn’t know you had.
  3. Pilates Matwork: Integrated Efficiency
    • Absorb the full benefits of the mat and use the classic exercises as a barometer to mark our progress. The art of technical study along with diligent execution will lead to a strong, grounded, and ultimately free body and mind.

In the workshop surrounding the workout we will discuss the creative process and logic behind programming this class based on dance pedagogy and the correlation to the BASI block system. Specific exercise modifications and forward progressions will be demonstrated and practiced so that all students can learn how to find their own personal athletic tune – where challenge meets technique.
